Friday February 18, 2012 Day 1

I have had a bump on one side of my nape piercing for over a year now. I had recently, for about a month, tried using H2Ocean thinking it was just an infection. While I was reading the instructions/information packet that came with the H2Ocean it mentioned keloid scaring, which I considered the bump could be, but really didn’t look too far in it. With little results from the H2Ocean I have decided to further look into keloid scaring. I came across a video that had suggestions to take care of keloids.

“Keloids are overgrowths of tissue around a piercing that can be treated with tea tree oil or an aspirin solution.”

After I found this video I looked up to see if there were any other videos with people that had keloid scars. When I came across another video.

This girl has a cheek keloid and I feel it looks very similar to my neck. She had decided to use tea tree oil and that is what I have decided to try as well. I don't know how long it took for her keloid to heal, but the first video said it should take a couple of days to see results.

This is the Tea Tree Oil I bought from Kroger. It was $8.47. which isn't a too bad of a price.

This is my neck before I applied the tea tree oil. At this point the keloid is painful which is what drove me to find a way to get rid of this bump. My piercing is leaking a bit too which is why the other side is crusty.

At 1:35 I applied tea tree oil on both sides of nape piercing with washed hands. Using my fingers to apply. Only the left side has a keloid but I applied to both sides anyway.

This is my neck maybe about 10 minutes after without the flash. I wanted to see if I could get a better picture of it. The skin looks hydrated because of the oil. I am thinking I am going to put the oil on every 2 hours.

Time Log When Tea Tree Oil Was Applied During The Day

  • 3:41 - 2nd application. A little over 2 hours after first application of the Tea Tree Oil. Same application process as before. My neck is still in a bit of pain. I want to say it hurts more but I can not say for sure.
  • 6:11 - 3rd application. A little over 2 hours again. I was napping but it was put on. My neck is still in pain. I would say it feels about the same. It looks more red around the piercing.
  • 7:31 - 4th application. Same application process. Feels a little dry. Not sure if it's because of the Tea Tree Oil. Still Hurts. Right side (The Side without the keloid) seems to leak a bit every application process. Which is good. It's good to get the puss out.
  • 9:51 - 5th application. Same application process. Still feels a little dry. I feel there is liquid still in both sides of the piercing. Thinking puss. Which makes me think the bump is an infection. Maybe because of the bump it has trouble draining. Not sure. Going to still go through with the Tea Tree Oil to see if it helps.
  • 11:40 - 6th application. Same Application process. Still feels a little dry. There is redness around the left side of piercing (keloid side) and the bump. Seems to be minor burning after a few minutes after the initial application. Not for long and not that bad.
